First trailer of Disney’s live-action remake of ‘Mulan’ has been released.

The first trailer for Disney’s live-action remake “Mulan” has been released for the audience.

The trailer begins with Mulan’s family. It further delivers the news that a matchmaker has found a promising match for her. However, by the end of the trailer, she is shown fighting in the war with a sword and a crossbow.
The remake of the movie is based on the 1998 animated movie. It revolves around a Chinese woman, Mulan, who disguises herself as a male warrior to spare her father from joining the military. The original film earned more than $300 million worldwide.

However, the remake of the film is directed by Niki Caro. Most recently, he directed “The Zookeeper’s Wife.” Furthermore, it is written by Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek.
Liu Yifei, a Chinese actress, also known as Crystal Liu, will play the title role of Mulan. She’s known for her roles in The Forbidden Kingdom, starring alongside Jackie Chan and Jet Li, and Outcast, alongside Nicolas Cage and Hayden Christensen. Moreover, Jet Li will play the role of the Emperor of China.

The movie will be a twist of the original film. Hence, the remake will feature some new characters while a few old ones would be omitted. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Actor Yoson An, from New Zealand will play Chen Honghui. He becomes the most important ally of Mulan and her eventual love interest.
As per The Disinsider, Mulan’s original love interest, Li Shang, and her apprentice, Mushu, are not part of the live-action film.

Jimmy Wong speaks on Twitter!

Jimmy Wong, the actor, and YouTube star will play Ling in the highly awaited film.

On his Twitter, he dropped a hint that the trailer might be released during the coverage of FIFA Women’s World Cup. He said, “If you are excited about Mulan, you might want to start tuning into the World Cup coverage starting today, You might see something. Just maybe.”

His hint proved to be true as the trailer dropped during the half-time advertisement of the FIFA Women’s World Cup final on Sunday (July 7). The match occurred between the USA and Holland.

He further wrote. “If you want to hear tidbits and facts from the production as we move towards Mulan’s release, feel free to let people know and drop dat follow. This project was such a labor of love by every single department and the thousands of people working on it. There’s a lot to share :)”

The newer version of Mulan looks a lot different than the 1998 version. The live-action film will not use the famous soundtrack from the original film. Also, fan-favorite characters of Mushu and Li Shang will not be present and a few changes to the story have also been made. Hence, it is unclear whether the movie will be able to appeal to the audience or not.

Mulan is scheduled for release on March 27, 2020.
