Mario Lopez apologizes for his “ignorant and insensitive” comments regarding kids that are transitioning

Actor Mario Lopez apologizes after receiving a ton of backlash for his comments during a recent interview.

The 45-year-old actor has made an apology for his statement regarding parents allowing their children to choose their gender.

Interview with Candace Owens

Lopez recently appeared on The Candace Owen Show, a podcast hosted by a 30-year-old political activist.

Owens regarded the freedom of choosing gender as one of Hollywood’s “weird trends”. She revealed, “I nannied for five years of my life” and found that children do not have the “mental authority” to make decisions related to their gender identity.

Lopez added to the discussion, “I am trying to understand it myself, and please don’t lump me into that whole [Group of parents]”

“If you’re three years old and you’re saying you’re feeling a certain way or you think you’re a boy or a girl or whatever the case may be, I just think it’s dangerous as a parent to make this determination then, okay, you’re going to a boy or a girl,” he continued.

In addition, Lopez stated, “It’s sort of alarming and I just think about the repercussions later on.”

Lopez on his children

The actor stated that his children, who attend Catholic school, do not mix with the bunch who self-identify themselves.

He revealed, “They don’t kick it with those kids.”Furthermore, he claimed that parents who allow their children to make such decisions are indulged in “narcissism” or “virtue-signalling”.

Mario Lopez apologizes

After the interview, Lopez faced backlash for his comments. One Twitter user stated, “I’m confused about what Mario Lopez said about transgender kids that was so wrong.”

Lopez made gave an official statement on CNN, “The comments I made were ignorant and insensitive, and I now have a deeper understanding of how hurtful they were.”

In addition, he said, “I have been and always will be an ardent supporter of the LGBTQ community, and I am going to use this opportunity to better educate myself. Moving forward I will be more informed and thoughtful.”

Candace Owens thinks Lopez was bullied

Mario’s apology did not sit well with Owens. She took to Twitter and accused people of “bullying” him into apologizing

“Bullying people into issuing public statements of apology so that they can keep their careers,” she wrote.

She added, “Because they state a FACT—that 3 year olds are not equipped to make life-altering decisions— is why @realDonaldTrump is your President. Leftists are SICK.”

Lopez recently welcomed his third child with wife Courtney on 8th July.
