Taylor Swift Pregnant With Joe Alwyn’s Baby?

Exactly one year ago today, Gossip Cop busted a tabloid for wrongly speculating that Taylor Swift was pregnant with Joe Alwyn’s baby. It’s now 365 days later, and the singer never gave birth to a child. Time has proven the magazine’s story to have been definitively untrue.

On December 18, 2017, In Touch theorized that Swift was expecting a baby because she appeared “confident, glowy and fuller than her usual pin-thin self.” To back up its premise, the outlet cited a story in the equally untrustworthy tabloid NW, which claimed that Swift was “four months along.” That report quoted a nutrition expert who had never met the singer as saying she had “gained 30 pounds.” The nutritionist, however, even admitted, “It’s hard to determine if she’s pregnant; she may have just gained weight.”

When the story was published this time last year, Gossip Cop reached out to a Swift confidante, who wasn’t authorized to speak on the record but assured us the singer wasn’t pregnant. As we also noted at the time, Swift would soon head out on her Reputation Stadium Tour, which took place from May to November of this year. Had Swift been “fourth months along” last December, that means she would have given birth in the middle of her global tour. That clearly wasn’t a possibility.

Not only did Swift never give birth to Alwyn’s baby, but the singer and her boyfriend haven’t celebrated any other major milestones just yet. In the year since we debunked the pregnancy rumors, the couple still isn’t engaged. Their relationship appears to be going strong, but they don’t seem headed down the aisle at this time, let alone bringing a child into the world.

In the past year, the tabloids haven’t gotten much better at accurately reporting about the romance between the singer and the actor. In June, Gossip Cop busted In Touch’s sister publication, Life & Style, for falsely claiming that Swift and Alwyn would be getting married in August. August came and went without a wedding.

In October, that same magazine published a phony cover story about Swift and Alwyn being secretly engaged. That newer article never acknowledged the previous report claiming the two were set to wed over the summer. Gossip Cop looks back at stories from a year ago to show how the tabloids eventually get caught peddling fake news about celebrities. In Touch’s pregnancy report from December 2017 is yet another example of how the passage of time disproves false narratives.
